More beautiful in love?

People often say that “Life is more beautiful when you’re in love.”  Of course, the people stating this are probably the happy people in love.  However, being that I’ve been in love, and lost love, this cliché does hold some validity.

When you’re in a relationship, everything makes you smile.  You utter a chipper “Good morning” to that annoying neighbor whose dog always poops near your stoop.  Those overly zealous co-workers who salute you with a “Happy Monday” greeting get a cheerful “You too!” in return.  Nothing can cramp your style, and if it does – so what!  You’re in looooveeee.

But what if you’re not.  Or you are, but it’s not returned.  Well then, my friends, the world is not so bright and bubbly.  You soon find yourself taking that sack of your neighbor’s dog shit, setting it on his stoop, and lighting it on fire.  Anyone who crosses your path with a “Happy Monday” gets a dirty look and perhaps a double middle finger once they’re out of your sight.  You’re bitter, miserable, and worst of all – alone.  Life sucks.

I wish I could write some positive, uplifting and optimistic sentence here, but the truth of the matter is, life is more beautiful when you’re in love.  Perhaps it’s the companionship with your life partner and best friend on those ugly rainy days that make even gray skies appealing.  Or maybe it’s just the fact that no matter what happens during the course of the day, there’s a man who loves you.

Do women need the validation of a man?  No.  But it just may be the kaleidoscope we enjoy looking through the lens of life with.  And that’s beautiful.

  1. Wow, this is beautiful and I totally agree. Life definitely seems sweeter through the eyes of someone who is loved.

  2. Amen.

    And that’s all I have to add…
